back up an AbanteCart database – Related errors and fixes

At Bobcares, where we have more than a decade of expertise in managing servers, we see many customers face problems while taking the backup and restoring the same.

Now, let’s see the major reasons for this AbanteCart related errors and how our Support Engineers fix the top errors.

Problem with PHP parameters

Recently, one of our customers had problems while backup an AbanteCart site. While taking the backup, he received an error like,

Error: cannot to pack /home/user/public_html/online-store/admin/system/backup/manual_backup.tar.gz

On checking, our Support Engineers found that time for executing PHP-script exceeded the limit. So, we increased the execution time parameter in php.ini directives and fixed the error.

Sometimes, it may also happen due to when memory for PHP is not enough. At that time, we’ll tweak the PHP memory value in the php.ini file.

Bad table prefix

Similarly, many customers may experience errors while upgrading the  AbanteCart store. During the upgrade process (within the Admin Panel), customers may get the following error.

Error: Can't create sql dump of database during backup.

As part of the upgrade process, there will be a backup process. But, tables in the SQL upgrade file have an “ac_” as a prefix. Customers may forget to replace it with their own prefix. Then, it creates a problem while taking the backup.

So, our Support Engineers will assist the customers on the upgrade process and backup process.
